PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Inventory Control Specialist oversees all aspects of inventory management. Responsible for developing and implementing efficient inventory control processes, ensuring accurate inventory records, optimizing stock levels, and coordinating with various departments to maintain a smooth flow of goods. This position works closely with warehouse order selectors, shipping and receiving specialists, and the warehouse manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement effective inventory controls strategies and procedures to ensure accurate stock levels, minimize discrepancies, and optimize warehouse space utilization.
- Monitor inventory levels and lead regular cycle counts, physical inventories, and reconciliations to identify and resolve any discrepancies or variances.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records using inventory management software and other tracking tools.
- Monitor inventory transfer between Long Prairie Warehouse and Main Warehouse to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Monitors and verifies the actual transit of good from Long Prairie to main warehouse to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate receipt, storage, and distribution of materials, components, and finished goods.
- Train and supervise inventory control staff, providing guidance, performance feedback, and conducting regular performance evaluations.
- Optimize warehouse layout and storage systems to facilitate efficient inventory management and improve productivity.
- Collaborate with IT and other relevant departments to implement and maintain inventory management systems and software, ensuring data accuracy and system reliability.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Qualified candidates will generally have the following education, knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Highschool degree or equivalent.
- Proven experience (three years) in inventory control management within a manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated proficiency with standard office technology, including Microsoft Suite products.
- Helpful but not required: In-depth knowledge of inventory management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
- Helpful but not required: Proficiency in using inventory management software and other relevant tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers.
- Possess the ability to take initiative by proactively identifying opportunities, proposing ideas, and acting without waiting for explicit instructions.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to enter data into a computer quickly and accurately.
- Demonstrated knowledge and comprehension of food safety protocols, food service regulations, health regulations, and meticulous adherence to proper sanitation practices.
- Exemplifying a professional and presentable demeanor with a neat appearance.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in inventory tracking and record-keeping.
- Proficiency in fundamental mathematical skills, including basic arithmetic operations, numerical calculations, and the ability to interpret and analyze numerical data.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Helpful but not required: Experience operating forklifts and pickers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires regular physical effort, including lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, manipulating, and keying or typing. Employees in this role typically handle weights ranging from less than one pound up to twenty-five pounds. Heavier lifting is not a regular part of the job.
The level of physical effort is generally light to moderate and occurs throughout the workday, though tasks involving lifting or carrying are usually performed less than 40% of the time. The position requires periods of sitting, standing, walking, stooping, and bending, depending on the specific task being performed.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
This job requires sustained mental and visual attention. Work involves performing complex tasks that demand accuracy, attention to detail, and adherence to quality standards. The position also requires a high degree of hand-eye coordination over extended periods of time.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is generally performed under good conditions, though employees may occasionally be exposed to heat, cold, fumes, vibration, and water. While these environmental elements can occur in the work area, exposure is typically limited and not present to a disagreeable extent.
