Join our fast-paced seafood retail and restaurant team where you’ll engage directly with customers, provide product recommendations and cooking tips, and help create an inviting, high-quality customer experience. This role blends customer service, daily operations such as stocking and rotating fresh items, maintaining food safety standards, operating point-of-sale systems, and supporting kitchen or service staff as needed. Ideal candidates bring prior food service or retail experience, strong communication skills, and a friendly, adaptable approach, with opportunities to grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service Excellence:
Provide knowledge of products along with cooking and serving suggestions to patrons.
Assist customers with inquiries and complaints. - Product Management and Display:
Stock and merchandise all seafood products in the display case.
Rotate product as needed - Compliance and Safety:
Demonstrate detailed knowledge of food safety at all times.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times. - Operations Support:
Operate scales and cash register.
Take restaurant orders for dine in and take out customers.
Assist kitchen and wait staff when necessary.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary to support the overall goals and objectives of the position.
What you bring to the Fish Peddler
Required:
- Minimum 1 year of prior experience in food counter sales, merchandising of food products, or other related experience.
- A food handler’s card or the ability to obtain one
- Strong customer service skills
- Effective communication skills
Preferred: Prior seafood experience
